Dr. Mahabub Hossain is an author of 14 books and over 100 papers in refereed journals and has held important positions from various international organizations in the Philippines, Bangladesh, Japan, U.S.A. and England. Dr. Hossain received his PhD in Economics from Cambridge University, England in 1977, after obtaining his Masters in Economics from Dhaka University in 1969. Since June 2007, Dr. Hossain has been serving as the Executive Director of the Bangladesh Rural Advencement Committee (BRAC): the largest Southern Asia NGO employing more than 100,000 personnel reaching out to more than 110 million people in Asia and Africa.
